Junior Miners – Sneaky like Pavel Datsyuk

Flipping through lists and charts tonight I needed to do a double take on the junior gold sector.  There are some mighty fine looking charts here.   I almost let this sector sneak right pass me like a Pavel Datsyuk break-away.

It looks like money has been rotating back to PM’s the past couple of sessions and now the sector is poised to reclaim the momentum it lost a few weeks back.  The next week looks to be crucial as many of these names are about to bust loose.  Should PM’s gain more momentum watch the money come in.

My 5 year old son started playing hockey a few months back.  It has been just incredible to see the growth he has gone through.  The first practice he was so over whelmed.  Almost every kid could skate where he struggled, no actually he couldn’t skate at all.  That first practice I watched him fall to the ice and just lay there crying.  Inside it hurt but I resisted the urge to save him.  Right there was one of life’s biggest lessons.  Anything worth having will not come easy.  Up to that point in life he had never experienced something he couldn’t do that others his age could.

We sat down and talked shortly after what happened.  He told me he was scared out there.  I provided empathy for his situation and told him his choices, quit or work hard.  ”How come everyone was so good” he wondered?  ”Well you think they were born with skates”? I said.  We talked about how new learnings in life can be hard at first but with practice you will get better.  I talk to him a lot about being able to talk yourself through situations and telling yourself “I won’t give up”.  After our talk he decided to work hard and not give up.

That talk was 2 months ago.  Now he is one of the better skaters in his class and getting better each time he goes out.  The next time I encounter something difficult I will remember back to my 5 yr old and recall what it means to persist through the tough times.
