In my 12 years as an investment and financial advisor I have seen it all. While there are many very good trustworthy financial professionals there are just as many that are not. background, degree and qualifications, such as the CFP are no guarnatees that your advisor is trustworthy or even knows investing. Advisors that help clients based on their companies recommendations have also done a disservice to their clients over the years.
The public does not know much about the financial advising industry. Confusion seems to surround who is an advisor, how they get paid, who’s interest do they hold, and how they come up with their recommendations. I have grown cynical of the financial advising industry, including the motivations of the companies that sponsor advisors. This blog was created out of these frustrations.
It is important to note that my beliefs and perceptions are mine shaped out of my experience.
In addition to “shining a light” on the industry I hope to provide analysis and opinion on markets, stocks and strategies. I have created a special section called “Watch the Pro” that will feature stock and market analysis of other professional, and most likely non-professional’s out in the world and blogosphere.
About me – the boring details: I have over 12 years of total industry experience. I have worked for traditional brokerage companies to insurance broker dealers. The past 5 years have been spent as an independant financial advisor learning technical analysis of stocks and markets. I am a member of both NAAIM (National Association of Active Investment Managers) and the (MTA) Market Technicians Association.
I am currently the CEO of J2 Capital Management where I am head of investment strategy.
